16mm film THE PINK PANTHER - Peter Sellers -The first of “The
Pink Panther” films, this classic movie launched a series of films that
began with this incredibly funny comedy directed and co-written by Blake
Edwards and released in 1963. The sound track featured a sweet cool jazz
theme composed by Henry Mancini. Plot line
follows the theft of a huge diamond by a jewel thief dubbed The Phantom,
i.e. Sir Charles Lytton played by David Niven, Robert Wagner as his son,
the beautiful Claudia Cardinale, subsequent police investigation by the
hilarious bumbling Inspector Clouseau played by Peter Sellers, and the
melt down of the Inspectors boss. The role of the Inspector, who later
is attacked every time he comes home by his Asian house boy for Karate
practice, was originally planned for Peter Ustinov, but Peter Sellers
was a last minute replacement. The marvelous opening credits and music
spawned the classic Pink Panther musical cartoon series produced by
Fritz Freleng and David H. DePatie with the occasional voice of one of
Hollywood’s greatest veteran actor's, Mr. Pat Harrington who many may
remember as the building repairman Schneider on the 1970's sitcom One
Day at a Time. This print is in good condition and ready to show. It is
on Eastman stock with some minor wear. |

16MM FEATURE FILM-PETER SELLERS, LEIGH TAYLOR-YOUNG, JOYCE VAN PATTEN
STARRING IN "I LOVE YOU ALICE B. TOKLAS" 16mm IB Technicolor
print of the film I LOVE YOU ALICE B. TOKLAS. Poor Harold Fine (Peter
Sellers)... he's a suit-and-tie-wearing Jewish professional who's being
pressed by his fiancée (Joyce Van Patten, in a supremely whiny and
irritating performance) to nail down a wedding date. Harold's bored and
dissatisfied with his life, though; when he meets Nancy (Leigh
Taylor-Young), a hippie-chick friend of his brother's, he decides to
tune in, turn on, and drop out, in a big way. He flees the altar,
leaving Joyce standing alone, and pursues the counterculture life. Soon,
though, Harold discovers that the hippie life isn't all it's cracked up
to be, with its hipper-than-thou hypocrisy adding up to little more than
a different brand of conformity. Screenwriter Paul Mazursky skewers the
shallowness of the '60s with dead-on humor and some hilarious set
pieces; the scene where Harold and his straitlaced parents eat some of
Nancy's "funny" brownies is especially memorable. Sellers's comic timing
and physical awkwardness, paired with Mazursky's dialogue, makes this
one of the better '60s-time-capsule flicks. Review by Jerry Renshaw. IB
Technicolor print in excellent condition and the color is excellent. No
major lines or splices. There is no vinegar smell. |

PLAY IT AGAIN SAM
STARRING WOODY ALLAN DIANE KEATON .Written for the stage by Woody Allan and coherently opened up
for the screen by veteran director Herbert Ross, Play It Again, Sam is
closer to a conventional comedy than Woody Allen's more self-contained
films, but his smart script and archetypal hero-nebbish achieve a
special charm aimed squarely at movie buffs. Allen is Allan Felix, a
film critic on the rebound after his wife's desertion trying to brave
the choppy waters of born-again bachelorhood and struggling to reconcile
his celluloid obsessions with the hazards of real-world dating. His
apartment is a shrine to Humphrey Bogart, and it's none other than Bogey
himself who materializes at strategic moments to counsel Allan on
romantic strategy. He gets more corporeal aid from his married friends,
Linda (Diane Keaton) and Dick (Tony Roberts), who try to orchestrate
prospective matches and reassure him when those chemistry experiments
explode. When Allan finds himself falling in love with Linda, the
dissonance between fantasy and reality proves both funny and poignant--a
precursor to the deeper emotionalism missing from the star's earlier
directorial efforts that was soon to inform Allen's most affecting '70s
comedies. It's also the start of his onscreen relationship with Keaton,
further underscoring Allen's evolution toward a more satisfying
contemplation of the friction between head and heart. Print is in good
condition and ready to show. |

MARTIN & LEWIS DVD
also featuring Marilyn Maxwell and Burt Lancaster. Dean
Martin and Jerry Lewis made their television debut on Ed Sullivan's
"Toast of the Town" in June 1948. They were, in many respects, the
perfect comedy team. Martin's good looks and smooth baritone balanced
Lewis' impishness and frantic comedy. They appeared for six seasons, on a
rotating basis on the Colgate Comedy Hour. WITH SPECIAL GUEST
ROSEMARY CLOONEY "Mellow" dean sings, "Zany" Jerry clowns & Rosemary
sings two of her all-time hits. In a hilarious skit, it's Dean's wedding
day and Jerry is the private detective hired to protect the wedding
gifts. WITH SPECIAL GUEST BURT LANCASTER In this program Dean and
Jerry are joined by Burt Lancaster. Dean sings and Jerry clowns as only
they can and Burt Lancaster is an escapee from an insane asylum. |
