16MM "THIEF OF BAGDAD" (1940) Sabu - Fuji Color Academy Award winner,
this is a 16mm print of a classic fantasy hailed as one of the greatest
fantasy films ever made. Sabu, Conrad Veidt and Rex Ingram. Directed by
Tim Whelan & Michael Powell (who also did Stairway to Heaven). Music
score by Miklos Rozsa. Produced by Alexander Korda, it truly was an
"instant classic." With a series of great adventures, a young thief
(Sabu) helps a deposed Prince Ahmad, the rightful ruler of Bagdad (John
Justin,) regain his throne and win the beautiful princess (Joan
Duprez). Fantastic Arabian Nights adventure with all the required
elements of magic, an evil Grand Vizier, a towering genie (Rex Ingram),
a mechanical flying horse, an all-seeing eye magic jewel and a flying
carpet. Wonderful art direction, color cinematography and special
effects. Epic-scale & impressive sets. |
